Legs, quads, adductors & abductors, calves, ankles will all be hard at it. It is also an amazing workout for your back and your abdominals and it strengthens your core as you work.
You don’t need any experience to be able to give aerial classes a go as they focus on good technique, conditioning and elements of performance with the equipment.
Aerial silk or tissu is a type of performance in which one or more artists perform aerial acrobatics while hanging from a special fabric.
A length of material is rigged from the ceiling, giving you a tool to climb, create figures, perform tricks and stunts and generally have a play! The variety of moves, drops, wraps, twists and turns are practically endless and create an ever intriguing challenge! Aerial silks may be used to fly through the air, striking poses and figures while flying. Aerial Silks works pretty much every muscle in the body. And as if that’s not enough, Aerial Silks is an amazing workout for your back and your abdominals and it strengthens your core as you work. You don’t need any experience to be able to give Aerial Silks a go. The aerial hoop (also known as the lyra, aerial ring or cerceau) is a circular steel apparatus rigged from the ceiling, giving you the opportunity to execute dynamic tricks, spins and swings! The hoop provides the perfect frame for an endless variety of balances, transitions and routines. Aerial Hoop classes are great for building strength, stamina and increasing flexibility. A full class will give your whole body a good workout but when it comes to your core muscles and your upper body strength – nothing even comes close.
Aerial Straps require not only a great amount of strength, but also unwavering determination. The moves executed on the Aerial Straps are very much similar to those of gymnastic rings, with the straps wrapping firmly around your wrists to test your strength and precision.
It is a demanding discipline, and we advise that you have some former experience or training with your own body weight before giving this a go. Expect slow but extremely rewarding progressions as you focus on firing on specific muscle groups at exact moments to perform switches and holds.
Static Trapeze (coming soon!)
Static trapeze, also known as fixed trapeze, is a type of circus art performed on the trapeze. In contrast to the other forms of trapeze, on static trapeze the bars and ropes mainly stay in place.A single artist will do tricks above and below the bar, the ropes playing just as important a part as the bar. A partner act will involve the partners working together — supporting each other’s weight, throwing, lifting and catching each other.Participants will develop stamina, determination and self belief and master the core moves necessary to progress their aerial skills to the next level. Static trapeze is a great way to start learning some aerial technique but bare in mind learning the advance trapeze movement is not a picnic! Class will cover moves, transitions and drop alongside some strength exercise to increase your abilities.Never tried it before? Don’t worry, this trapeze lesson is suitable for adult beginners – no experience necessary.
